Sold Secure helps address incorrect information on Lock Snapping
Unfortunately incorrect information was disseminated on a recent issue of This Morning on ITV relating to lock snapping. Viewers were told that any euro cylinder with a kitemark on it (as long as it was produced after 2007 was anti-snap. This is far from the case! Homeowners need to be aware that in order to get a cylinder that has been tested for snap resistance then it has to be approved to either the Sold Secure Diamond level (SS312 Diamond - developed in 2010) or at least have the 3 star Kitemark (TS007 - developed in 2011). A Kitemark alone (1* or standard Kitemark pre 2011) will not have been tested for snap resistance no matter what it says on the packaging and will have to be protected by security handles. The Master Locksmiths have been quick to address the misinformation provided on the programme and more on this can be found here. The complexity relating to this goes to show the need to get experts to secure your home. You can find your local vetted, inspected and qualified MLA licensed locksmith here.
